On June 24, at the CPHI China 2025, HB TempCon Aviation — a subsidiary incubated by Haier Biomedical under Incaier — signed a strategic cooperation agreement with CEVA Logistics. The two sides will collaborate closely on expanding the global footprint of pharmaceutical cold chain logistics. Through shared resources and technological innovation, the partnership aims to significantly improve the efficiency and reliability of cross-border medical supply transportation, providing strong momentum for strengthening the resilience of the global pharmaceutical supply chain.
The agreement marks a major milestone in HB TempCon Aviation's efforts to expand its global industrial ecosystem. It reflects the growing role of Chinese aviation-based temperature-controlled logistics in shaping global pharmaceutical supply networks. With its technical expertise and integrated capabilities, HB TempCon Aviation is contributing smart solutions that push the industry toward greater standardization and intelligentization.
Production–research–application integration enhances global capabilities in aviation-based temperature-controlled services
Compared to other transportation methods, aviation-based temperature-controlled logistics has become a vital link between pharmaceutical R&D and market demand. Its unmatched speed, safety, and precision make it essential for ensuring the quality and stable supply of high-value, temperature-sensitive drugs.
However, this sector comes with high entry barriers and significant technical demands, involving multiple processes such as air transport, ground handling, and warehouse operations. Therefore, it demands a high level of coordination and integrated management across all players in the supply chain.
CEVA Logistics, a global leader in logistics services, operates a vast network of more than 1,500 locations across over 170 countries and regions. With proven industry experience in international freight, cross-border transportation, and warehouse management, the company delivers comprehensive supply chain solutions to clients worldwide.
HB TempCon Aviation, a subsidiary of Haier Biomedical specialized in aviation-based temperature-controlled logistics, is committed to providing global users with green aviation-based temperature-controlled solutions for the full lifecycle — from R&D to production, operations, and maintenance. Its proprietary "Hongshu Cloud" IoT platform and line of active temperature-controlled air cargo containers are designed for intelligence and reliability, offering robust technical support for the safe and efficient transport of temperature-sensitive drugs globally.
As part of the partnership, CEVA Logistics and HB TempCon Aviation will jointly develop a standardized warehousing network across key regions in the Americas, Europe, and Asia, dedicated to the storage and turnover of cold chain pharmaceutical containers. HB TempCon Aviation will provide CEVA Logistics' overseas warehouses with intelligent cold chain pharmaceutical container management solutions through its proprietary "Hongshu Cloud" IoT platform, while CEVA Logistics will draw on its global network to handle cross-border deployment, terminal operations, and customer outreach.
Notably, to address a pain point in pharmaceutical logistics — the low return utilization of cold chain containers — the two parties will introduce a joint initiative called the Empty Container Allocation Plan.CEVA Logistics will assist Haier Biomedical in the efficient transportation of empty containers from China to overseas markets, using a digital platform for real-time tracking and management, thereby reducing logistics costs for clients. In addition, Haier Biomedical's high-performance cold chain containers will be incorporated into CEVA Logistics' pharmaceutical logistics portfolio, further enhancing its temperature-controlled transportation service offerings for global pharmaceutical companies and medical institutions.
On the strategic partnership, Frederic Marcerou, Air and Ocean Product Director at CEVA Logistics Greater China, said: "Partnering with Haier Biomedical will strengthen our service capabilities in temperature-controlled logistics. By leveraging the combined warehousing and transportation resources of both parties, we can provide clients with more flexible and sustainable pharmaceutical transportation solutions."
Liu Yang, Business Development Director at HB TempCon Aviation, added: "CEVA's global footprint is a strong match for our technological offerings. This partnership will not only increase the efficiency of exporting China's smart medical equipment, but also ensures more reliable cold chain logistics services for global clients."
Harnessing technology to advance ecological strategy and high-quality industry development
As medical technology advances and public health awareness increases in recent years, global market demand for temperature-sensitive drugs and biologics has surged, driving rapid growth in the aviation-based temperature-controlled logistics industry.
To better serve the growing demand for aviation-based temperature-controlled transportation, HB TempCon Aviation has upheld a commitment to independent innovation and collaborative ecosystem building since its founding in 2021. With a focus on global expansion, the company continues to deliver breakthroughs that strengthen its role in the field.
In terms of technological innovation, HB TempCon Aviation has drawn on its strong technical foundation to drive innovation in refrigeration and temperature control systems. In 2022, the company independently developed an active temperature-controlled air cargo containers.
Compared to similar industry products, the container offers greater temperature uniformity, extends flight time by around 50%, reduces power consumption by 20%, and lowers usage costs, enhancing the overall safety of the biopharmaceutical supply chain.
The solution has earned key certifications, including the Civil Aviation Technical Standard Order Authorization (CTSOA), Modification Design Approval (MDA), and CCAR-145 Maintenance License from the Civil Aviation Administration of China, as well as the code "6U" issued by the International Air Transport Association.
Based on its strong technical capabilities and outstanding product performance, HB TempCon Aviation has continued to achieve new breakthroughs in 2025. In January, its self-developed RAP-AT1 active temperature-controlled air cargo container received CTSOA from the Civil Aviation Administration of China. In March, the RKN-AT1 container earned LODA certification from the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration, providing more reliable technical assurance for the air transportation of high-value, temperature-sensitive cargo.
Of note, HB TempCon Aviation also played a role in formulating the China Civil Aviation Technical Standard Order (CTSO-C90e) for ULD pallets, nets, and containers, further elevating China's regulatory framework for aviation-based temperature-controlled containers to international standards.
The development of HB TempCon Aviation's air transportation network extends beyond technological advancement.
In terms of its ecological strategy, the company has developed a global operation and maintenance network. Domestically, it has established operation and maintenance centers in cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen, and formed partnerships with major airlines such as Air China, China Eastern, China Southern, and Sichuan Airlines, achieving full coverage of key aviation hubs across China. Internationally, HB TempCon Aviation has built an overseas network centered around dozens of international airports — including Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Milan, New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago — and has been approved by international carriers such as Qatar Airways and Korean Air.
Furthermore, powered by its "Hongshu Cloud" IoT platform, the company connects key links such as equipment management transportation monitoring, and data analysis to enable synergistic ecosystem across airlines, pharmaceutical companies, and logistics service providers, comprehensively enhancing its full-chain capabilities in aviation-based temperature-controlled logistics services.
From leading-edge technology to a global service network, HB TempCon Aviation leverages innovation as its driving force and ecosystem integration as its foundation to continuously push the boundaries of aviation-based temperature-controlled logistics services. Moving forward, the company remains committed to its mission of "Green Temperature Control Safeguarding Life," and will continue making user-focused breakthroughs. Its goal is to build a safe, efficient "airborne lifeline" that supports the global circulation of biopharmaceuticals, helping strengthen the safety and resilience of the global pharmaceutical supply chain and, ultimately, making life better for all.
